Transport business market began to show signs of stabilization

After difficult times for road transport, there is a light in the tunnel at the beginning of this year. Entering 2025, after nearly three years of recession, the transport business market began to show signs of stabilization. While profits across the sector remain low, Susquehanna’s chief analyst Bascome Major sees reasons for optimism, claiming the industry is poised for a rebound over the next two years. The main reasons for positively predicting the future include the recent holiday season which was better than expected. Prices for transport and the number of orders increased. As well as the certainty of transport companies, predicting a further increase in prices for cargo transport in 2025.

Majors predicts that the current year will be a “bridge year” to a more significant improvement in 2026.

What factors can influence growth? First of all, economic stabilization. When people can afford more purchases, the demand for transport increases. Additionally, sales of Class 8 trucks remain low, which indicates that transport companies are replacing old trucks with new ones and are not increasing fleets with more vehicles. And a greater amount of goods with the same number of trucks means an automatic increase in prices for transport.

Although Majors admits that “2025 will not be a breakthrough year for road transport”, he believes that “it should bring sufficient progress to maintain hope for a real recovery in 2026”. His predictions reflect moderate optimism, suggesting that the worst is behind us, and significant profit growth potential is on the horizon.

Although the future of the transport industry is still burdened with some uncertainty, the current prospects are more optimistic than ever in recent years. The road transport sector, as one of the key pillars of the economy, plays an important role in the recovery process after the crisis. Therefore, following its further fate will be extremely interesting for both entrepreneurs themselves and for a wide range of transport service recipients.
